Saturday 6/15/1907: Washington's Corbett out for 6 weeks
WASHINGTON - Washington is without its right-hander Joe Corbett for at least 6 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Claude Ritchey in a game against Chicago (A). His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. Washington wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Corbett had suffered a Ruptured Bicep Tendon. This season Corbett compiled an ERA of 4.08, going 5-5 in 15 starts. He fanned 64 while giving up 114 hits in 103.2 innings.
 
Saturday 6/15/1907: Rube Waddell pitches 2-hit shutout against Boston (A)
BOSTON (A) - St.Louis(A)'s lefty Rube Waddell is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Boston (A) found out the hard way, getting just 2 hits. Waddell 1st shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 30th shutouts in his career. Waddell (8-11) struck out 7 and walked 4, throwing 82 of 133 pitches for strikes. 'Giving my team a chance to win is the most important thing for me. I was able to do it today.' Nap Lajoie helped Waddell at the plate, he finished with 4 hits in 5 AB, stroking a double, scoring two runs and collecting 2 RBI. St.Louis(A) scored 8 runs on 12 hits.
 
Monday 6/10/1907: Philadelphia (A)'s Bender wins Player of the Week award
Chief Bender of Philadelphia (A) wins his 8th Player of the Week award for dominating American's hitters the entire week. Bender was overpowering all week long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 0.00. Along the way he struck out 12 in 18 innings. He pitched two shutouts! Opposing players hit .233 against Chief this season. While posting an ERA of 2.82 he went 9-6 in 17 starts, fanning 81 and walking 31 hitters. Chief has pitched 5 shutouts and 14 complete games. He's 9th in the American in ERA and 3rd in wins! The National Player of the Week award goes to Jesse Tannehill, one of Pittsburgh's best starting pitchers. Tannehill was overpowering all week long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 1.50. Along the way he struck out 9 in 18 innings. He hurled a shutout as well.
 
Friday 6/7/1907: Earl Moore shuts out Brooklyn on 2 hits
PHILADELPHIA (N) - Earl Moore had some fun again. Brooklyn hitters did not. Philadelphia (N)'s right-hander gave up just 2 hits in his 4th shutout of the season. He now has 13 career shutouts in 244 games started. Moore (7-5) fanned 7 and walked none, throwing 114 pitches. 'I really like to play baseball, and I love the way I was able to play it today.' Harry Arndt provided Philadelphia (N) with the offense Moore needed as he stroked 2 hits in 3 AB, hitting a double, scoring twice. Philadelphia (N) improved its record to 24-36, scoring 4 runs on 7 hits.
 
Monday 6/3/1907: New York (A)'s Collins wins Player of the Week award
It's the 2nd time that the American Player of the Week award goes to New York (A)'s second baseman Eddie Collins. He had an on base percentage of .565 and hit .524, while driving in 6 runs. The National Player of the Week award goes to George McQuillan, one of New York (N)'s best starting pitchers. He was in a zone all week, compiling an ERA of 0.50 while going 2-0. He hurled a shutout as well. His ERA of 2.23 helped him to a 11-2 record this year. He struck out 42 and walked 21 in 125 innings. George has pitched one shutout and 12 complete games. He's 5th in the National in ERA and 1st in wins!
 
Saturday 6/1/1907: Babe Adams pitches his 2nd shutout of the season
CINCINNATI - Babe Adams had some fun again. Brooklyn hitters did not. Cincinnati's right-hander gave up just 2 hits in his 2nd shutout of the season. He now has 3 career shutouts in 53 games started. 'I hit the corners with all of my pitches. That helped a lot!' Adams (6-7) showed excellent control, walking nobody and fanning 1. Tom McCreery provided Cincinnati with the offense Adams needed as he got 2 hits in 4 AB, scoring two runs. Cincinnati scored 5 runs on 8 hits.
 
Saturday 6/1/1907: Fred Glade pitches his 2nd shutout of the season
PHILADELPHIA (N) - St.Louis (N)'s right-hander Fred Glade is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Philadelphia (N) on just one hit. It's his 2nd shutout this season, and the 13th time he has done it in his career. 'I had my stuff going. Everything I tried worked. What a day!' Glade (11-3) struck out 6 and issued 2 BB, throwing 74 of 133 pitches for strikes. The hitting star for St.Louis (N) was first baseman Sam Mertes, he finished with 3 hits in 4 AB, doubling once. The final score of the game was 3-0.
 
Saturday 6/1/1907: Plank and McQuillan receive Pitcher of the Month award
Cleveland's Eddie Plank had a terrific May, and it earned him the American Pitcher of the month award. His ERA of just 1.39 helped him to a 5-2 record in May. He worked 71 innings, striking out 31 hitters while walking 11. Eddie also fired a shutout. This season Plank compiled an ERA of 2.31, going 8-5 in 15 starts. He fanned 60 while giving up 126 hits in 132.2 innings. He has 12 complete games and one shutout. He's 3rd in the American in ERA and 3rd in wins! New York (N)'s pitcher George McQuillan is the National winner of the Pitcher of the Month award in May. He struck out 24 hitters in his 7 starts, putting together a record of 7-0 while pitching 24 innings. His ERA in May was 2.43. George also fired a shutout. This season McQuillan compiled an ERA of 2.33, going 10-2 in 13 starts. He fanned 40 while giving up 106 hits in 116 innings. He has 11 complete games and one shutout. He's 6th in the National in ERA and 1st in wins!
 
Saturday 6/1/1907: Philadelphia (A)'s Beck earns Batter of the Month award
The American Batter of the Month award goes to Erve Beck, Philadelphia (A)'s starting second baseman. Erve went 46 for 104 (.442), while hitting 1 HR and collecting 16 RBI. His season numbers are: .333 AVG, 70 hits, 14 doubles, one triple and one tater, along with 24 RBI and 35 runs scored. He's 7th in the American in batting! The Batter of the Month award in the National goes to Chicago (N)'s Ty Cobb this time, as the centerfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. He hit .418 with 10 RBI and slugged .633 in 98 at bats. He has hit one longball while batting .372 this season. His 77 hits and 16 walks add up to a .412 on-base percentage. He's 1st in the National in batting!
 
Monday 5/27/1907: O'Neill (CLE) and Joss (PHI) win P.O.W. award
The Player of the Week award in the American goes to Cleveland's Mike O'Neill this time, as the pitcher displayed the best pitching perfomance in his league. O'Neill was overpowering all week long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 1.00. Along the way he struck out 6 in 18 innings. He hurled a shutout as well. Philadelphia (N)'s pitcher Addie Joss had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the National Player of the Week. Addie went 2-0 with an ERA of 1.00, while fanning 9 in 18 innings of work. He hurled a shutout as well.
 
Saturday 5/25/1907: Addie Joss pitches 2-hit shutout against New York (N)
PHILADELPHIA (N) - Philadelphia (N)'s right-hander Addie Joss is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking New York (N) on just 2 hits. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 13th time he has done it in his career. Fielder Jones spoiled the bid for a no-hitter when he singled with two outs in the 5th inning. 'I had my stuff going. Everything I tried worked. What a day!' Joss (2-7) struck out 4 and walked none, throwing 67 of 107 pitches for strikes. Philadelphia (N)'s second baseman Jim Delahanty got 1 hit in 3 AB. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Joss. Philadelphia (N) improved its record to 20-29, scoring 2 runs on 3 hits.
 
Saturday 5/25/1907: Red Ames blanks Cincinnati with a 2-hitter
CHICAGO (N) - Chicago (N)'s right-hander Red Ames is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Cincinnati on just 2 hits. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 12th time he has done it in his career. Ames (6-3) struck out 4 and issued 1 BB, throwing 65 of 98 pitches for strikes. 'Wow, what a nice day. I guess I had a good breakfast today.' The hitting star for Chicago (N) was second baseman Al Bridwell, he got 2 hits in 3 AB. Chicago (N) improved its record to 30-19, scoring 2 runs on 6 hits.
 
Monday 5/20/1907: St.Louis(A)'s Davis wins Player of the Week award
Harry Davis from St.Louis(A) wins his 2nd Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the American. Harry went 12 for 22 (.545), while hitting 2 HR and collecting 7 RBI. He hit in every game this week and extended his hitting streak to 7 games. Rube Kroh of Boston (N) wins his 1st Player of the Week award for dominating National's hitters the entire week. Wednesday 5/15/1907: Brooklyn's Donlin out for 5-6 weeks
BROOKLYN - Brooklyn's season has taken a hit after one of their best players, first baseman Mike Donlin, injured himself while rounding a base. He is likely to miss 5-6 weeks. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Torn Abdominal Muscle. This year Donlin drove in 14 and scored 23 runs while batting .345 with 2 bombs. He's 6th in the National in batting!
 
Monday 5/13/1907: Chicago (N)'s Patten wins Player of the Week award
The Player of the Week award in the American goes to Philadelphia (A)'s Nick Maddox this time, as the pitcher displayed the best pitching perfomance in his league. Maddox was overpowering all week long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 1.06. Along the way he struck out 3 in 17 innings. A complete game added to his brilliant performance. Opposing players hit .272 against Nick this season. While posting an ERA of 3.30 he went 4-4 in 7 starts, fanning 14 and walking 24 hitters. The National Player of the Week award goes to Case Patten, one of Chicago (N)'s best starting pitchers. He was in a zone all week, compiling an ERA of 1.06 while going 2-0. A complete game added to his brilliant performance. In 10 starts this year Case struck out 57 batters in 87 innings of work. His ERA is 1.86, his record 6-1. Case has pitched one shutout and 5 complete games. He's 2nd in the National in ERA and 2nd in wins!
 
Monday 5/6/1907: New York (A)'s Collins wins Player of the Week award
Eddie Collins from New York (A) wins his 1st Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the American. Collins helped his team with an average of .476 and 8 RBI in 21 at bats. Eddie has gone 42 for 109 (.385) this season, hitting one homerun and driving in 18 runs. He has scored 26 runs on his own. He's 1st in the American in batting and 10th in RBI! It's the 4th time that the National Player of the Week award goes to Pittsburgh's pitcher Charlie Chech. Charlie went 2-0 with an ERA of 1.00, while fanning 9 in 18 innings of work. He hurled a shutout as well.
 
Wednesday 5/1/1907: St.Louis (N)'s Glade named Pitcher of the Month
It's the 1st time that the American Pitcher of the Month award goes to Cleveland's pitcher Mike O'Neill. His record of 6-1 in 7 was among the leagues best this month. In 62 innings of work he allowed just 58 hits while striking out 17, compiling an ERA of just 2.76. Mike pitched a shutout as well. Fred Glade pitched like a legend in April, and the National named him Pitcher of the Month for his extraordinary performance. He had an ERA of just 1.70 in 53 innings of work in which he struck out 12 hitters. His record in April is 5-1. Fred also fired a shutout.
 
Wednesday 5/1/1907: Batter of the Month award winners announced
Tris Speaker of Cleveland wins his 1st Batter of the Month award for putting up the best numbers in the American. Tris was on fire, hitting .319 with 2 homeruns and 25 RBI. The National's best player of the month was St.Louis (N)'s Clyde Milan, who wins the award for the 1st time in his career. He had an on base percentage of .460 and hit .408, while driving in 14 runs.
 
Tuesday 4/30/1907: Brooklyn's Mike Mitchell pounds five hits
BOSTON (N) - Mike Mitchell punished Boston (N)'s pitching today, collecting five hits in 6 AB. That definitely helped Brooklyn, they won the game 11 to 3. Number 1 in the 3rd inning accounted for a double. A pitch from Howie Camnitz in the 4th inning left his bat for a two-run double. Number 3 in the 6th inning accounted for a double. Hit number 5 followed in the 9th inning, a triple. He had a single in the 7th, plating two runners. Mike scored 3 runs, and he collected 4 RBI as well! This season has been a good one for him so far, as he has 32 hits in 104 at bats, resulting in a .308 batting average.
 
Monday 4/29/1907: Harry Howell (NYG) will miss 6 weeks
NEW YORK (N) - New York (N)'s pitcher Harry Howell was part of a scary incident that saw the right-hander being hit by a line drive in the 9th inning of the game between New York (N) and Philadelphia (N). Team trainers immediately rushed onto the field after the frightening scene. Howell will miss about 6 weeks. Fractured Cheekbone was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. In 7 starts this year Harry struck out 30 batters in 61 innings of work. His ERA is 2.07, his record 3-2. He's 3rd in the National in ERA and 8th in wins!
 
Monday 4/29/1907: McFarland and White win Player of the Week award
The Player of the Week award in the American goes to Detroit's Chappie McFarland this time, as the pitcher displayed the best pitching perfomance in his league. He was in a zone all week, compiling an ERA of 1.50 while going 2-0. He was able to complete both starts of the week. The National's best player of the week was Chicago (N)'s Doc White, who wins the award for the 4th time in his career. He was in a zone all week, compiling an ERA of 0.00 while going 2-0. Monday 4/22/1907: Buttons Briggs shuts out Boston (A) on 2 hits
DETROIT - Detroit's right-hander Buttons Briggs is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Boston (A) on just 2 hits. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 15th time he has done it in his career. The bid for a no-hitter was broken up when Jimmy Slagle singled with no outs in the 7th inning. Briggs (4-1) fanned 5 and walked 2, throwing 122 pitches. 'I didn't feel that I had good stuff while warming up. But it got better the more I threw the ball. I guess I was lucky.' The hitting star for Detroit was second baseman Bill McKechnie, he finished 2 for 3. Detroit improved its record to 13-6, scoring 2 runs on 6 hits.

New York (A)'s pitcher Walter Clarkson had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the American Player of the Week.
